Canton R-V May 2026 School Board Meeting
CANTON, Mo. — *Key notes from the Canton R-V Board of Education meeting held on May 11, 2026.
The Canton R-V Board of Education regular meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Susie Biggerstaff in the Media Center Conference Room. Board members present were Susie Biggerstaff, Lacy Spurgeon, Larry Arnold, Taylor Fahser, Chad DeWaard, and Stacey Guilfoyle. Jake Schaefer was absent.
The board adopted the agenda as amended and approved the consent agenda, which included April transfers, meeting minutes, attendance, lunch, transportation, and safety reports. The board also authorized payment of bills as presented and accepted the monthly financial report.
Principals Jena Oilar and Matt Rayl presented their monthly reports. Superintendent Jesse Uhlmeyer reported on a legislative update and a potential public meeting regarding school finance.
Under new business, the board voted to certify graduates pending the successful completion of all local and state requirements. The board also approved an overnight trip for the FFA Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., scheduled for June 3-7, 2026.
The board authorized Superintendent Uhlmeyer to DocuSign a memorandum of understanding with the rootED Missouri Career Advising Initiative. The board also approved the Fiscal Year 2027 certified employee salary schedule as presented.
The board voted to disconnect the certified salary schedule from the extra duty salary schedule beginning Fiscal Year 2027. The board also approved a 1% increase in classified employee salaries for Fiscal Year 2027, with Larry Arnold abstaining.
The board approved deeming a list of technology equipment as surplus. The board also voted to surplus Bus 1.
The board then entered executive session. Personnel actions listed in the minutes included accepting the resignation of Jerrid Cosby as boys’ varsity basketball assistant coach, extending extra duty contracts for assistant baseball coach and boys’ basketball assistant coach, extending a volunteer contract for girls’ junior high basketball coach, and extending extra duty contracts for NHS sponsor positions.
The meeting adjourned after executive session.
