Multiple Lewis County Athletes Qualify for State Track Meet
Lewis County, MO — Multiple Athletes from Lewis County have qualified for the Missouri State Track and Field Meet in Jefferson City, on May 22-23.
As Canton Junior Zachary Logsdon will participate in the Class 1 Men’s High Jump. Finishing the sectional round in fourth place with a mark of 1.75 meters.
Highland Senior Christopher Gaus will make his fourth appearance at the State Meet, competing in the 100m dash and the boys’ long jump. Finishing the 100m Dash in fourth with a personal best time of 11.23, and fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.43m
Junior Porter Peters will compete in the 400m race. After finishing fourth with a personal best time of 51.26.
The Boys 4x400m Relay team of junior Tyler Seals, freshman Cooper Hinton, junior Brisoe Post, and junior Porter Peters qualified with a fourth-place finish in 3:35.35.
On the girls’ side, four individuals and one relay team qualified for Highland.
Senior Chevie Sharpe will look to reclaim her crown in the 1600m race. Last year, she claimed the state title. She finished first with a season-best 5:19.92. She will also compete in the 800m race, where she finished fourth last season. Finishing Sectionals in first place with a personal best 2:22.29.
Senior Bailie Crist will return to the state for the javelin throw. Finishing second at sectionals with a mark of 37.23m to qualify. Last season, Crist finished in fourth at state.
Junior Eva Logsdon qualified for the pole vault. Taking third in sectionals with a personal best with a height of 2.93m.
Sophomore Alison Lundberg finds her way to the stat in the high jump. Beating her personal best with a mark of 1.59 meters for third place and qualifying for state.
Lastly, the Girls 4×400 Relay team finished second with a time of 4:11.35, qualifying for state. Consisting of junior Hannah Ritterbusch, freshman Aspen Scifres, junior Eva Logsdon, and senior Chevie Sharpe. Last year, the Relay team took third at state.
The State Track and Field Meet will take place in Jefferson City, on May 22-23, at Adkins Stadium.
