Wildcats Suffer Another Loss; Look to Finish Strong
Canton, MO – The Culver-Stockton Wildcats faced the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers. The Wildcats look to finish a frustrating season on a high note with only five games left, while the Pioneers look to sneak their way into the top eight and have a chance to play in the conference tournament.
In the first half, the Wildcats battled hard with the Pioneers despite starting off trailing. The Wildcats would even take a few leads from the Pioneers. But the Pioneers would regain the lead and head to the locker room up 34-30.
In the second, the Pioneers would come out with their foot down, building multiple runs, with the Wildcats finding a score every few possessions. Leading to the Pioneers’ victory 72-60.
After the game, Coach Dorian Hobbs felt that mental mistakes and the intensity coming into the half were what did them in. “I thought we had a pretty decent first half and didn’t come out with the same intensity enough for the second half, and kind of let it get away from us, and made some mental mistakes a little bit defensively. But I mean, we live to fight another day, so back at it on Wednesday.” The Wildcats have only four games remaining in their season. As they head to Central Methodist to take on the Eagles in Fayette, MO, on Wednesday, February 11th, with a 7:30 slated tip.
The Wildcats are 5-19 (2-14) as they battle through a frustrating season. But Hobbs feels the team’s connectivity shows promise for the future. “For sure. It has, it has. Getting a whole new group, a whole new group of guys, and teaching all of our offense, defense, our culture, and everything. And we’ve kind of started turning the page a bit in the second half. Hopefully we can finish strong these last four and make some type of run, give some momentum for next year.”
