David Samuel Bader Obituary


David S. Bader, 93 of Canton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Dave was born November 5, 1932 in Canton, Missouri, the son of David M. and Katherine L. (Weaver) Bader. He graduated from Canton R-V School and entered the US Air Force after graduation in 1951. He served 4 years as an Air Force Police officer, stationed in Sampson Air Force Base in New York for basic. Then served 2 years at the Anderson Air Force Base on the island of Guam. He was then based at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas for 2 years before his honorable discharge.
Dave married Kay Bader on July 20, 1986, in a garden ceremony at their home in Canton. She survives. Dave was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton.
Dave had many different jobs throughout his life but found his passion for travel in over the road trucking. He drove for over 40 years, as a safe driver. After retiring at 65, he took a job at the Mark Twain Casino and worked there for 15 years and retired for a second time.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son Cecil (Linda) Bader of Canton, daughter, Kara (Jeremy) Davis of Tool, Texas, stepdaughter Dori (Mark) Dochterman of Canton, one sister, Marcia Miller of Canton, grandchildren Garrett (Melinda) Bader of Anchorage, Alaska, April (Chad) Snow, of Norfolk, Virginia, Keri Ann Nelson of Canton, Nathan (Carla) Lair of Canton, Christopher (Marlene) Lair of Eolia, Missouri, eleven great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents David M and Katherine L Bader, his sons David and Paul, stepson Daniel Smith, brother-in-law William Miller, brother-in-law Jerry Brown, sisters in law, Caroline Besco, Mary Lange and Charolette Pepple. Also Aunts, Uncles, cousins and grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton, Missouri with Father Boniface Nzabonimpa officiating. Private inurnment with Military Honors by Otto Bruner Post #170 will be in Forest Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 10 AM until the time of services at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
