Elsie M. Sherwood, 92 of LaGrange, Missouri passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Missouri.

Elsie was born on September 23, 1931 at Taylor, Missouri.to Harry Frederick and Florence Ethel Hornaday Warning.  

Elsie graduated High School in 1949 and had worked at Motorola in Quincy, Illinois and Logsdon Oil, Dream Vision, GM Electronic and Casey’s all in LaGrange, Missouri.  She enjoyed watching basketball games and the St. Louis Cardinal’s.  She loved taking care of her many pets and spending time with family, quilting and traveling.

She was united in marriage to Bert Sherwood and to this union were born five children, Roger Lynn (Vicki) Sherwood of LaGrange, Mo., Karen Sue (Danny) Casey of Lorraine, Il., Jimmie Douglas Sherwood of Paris, Ky., Neal Ray (Tammy) Sherwood of Troy, Mo. and an infant daughter Carolyn Sue Sherwood who passed away in 1946.  Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Crystal Dawn (John) Gaus of Kahoka, Mo., Jamie Lynn Corey of Quincy, Il., Jimmie (Andra) Sherwood, Jr. of Molissa, Tx., Ashley Dawn Sherwood of Quincy, Il., Andrew Joel Sherwood of LaGrange, Mo., Christopher  Ray Sherwood of Troy, Mo., Megan Elizabeth Sherwood of Canton, Mo. and Zachary (Jessica) Brewster of Kahoka, Mo.; great-grandchildren, LaChrisha (Justin) Florea, Peyton Holder, Makayla Corey, Katherine Corey, Abbigail Corey, Andrew Corey, Erica (Tanner) Harrison and Dayla Gaus; several great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Stephen (Debbie) Baum of Keokuk, Ia. and a niece Linda (S. Michael) McCully of Bloomsburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Carolyn Sue Sherwood, infant great-great-grandson, Austin Corey, two sisters, Naomi Lois Warning and Maxine Madge Baum and four brothers, Harry Leroy, Paul Edward, Austin Eugene and William Otis Warning.

According to her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and no services scheduled.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Hannibal, Mo. which may be mailed to or left at Arnold’s Funeral Home, 1100 White St., Canton, MO  63435.
