LEWISTOWN, Mo- *Key notes from the Lewis County C-I School District Board of Education meeting held on May 20, 2026.

The Lewis County C-I Board of Education met May 20 in the Central Office Board Room.

During open session, the board approved the agenda as presented. Tricia Hinton gave an update on CTA activities and thanked the board for the Teacher Appreciation meal. There were no public comments.

The board approved consent agenda items, including open minutes from the April 8 regular board meeting, open minutes from the April 16 and May 6 special board meetings, the next regular meeting date of June 17, and payment of bills, including FEMA-related bills and regular invoices. The motion carried 5-0-2, with JT Gray and Allen Brinkley abstaining.

The superintendent’s report included the monthly MSBA board report and a budget update with the financial report through the end of April 2026. Old business included updates on the Continuous School Improvement Plan and Success Ready Student Network. The board approved the assurance document for participation in Missouri’s SRSA and authorized the superintendent and board president to sign and submit it.

No action was taken on the Summer Food Service program. The board approved raises to summer school pay for Summer 2026 and authorized the superintendent to amend the budget accordingly.

The FEMA shelter project was also discussed, including water line and water department updates. The board approved an increased expense for Geotechnics related to the FEMA construction project to cover needed testing. The motion carried 6-1.

The board approved a Hot Spot sponsor stipend in the amount of $1,948.16, effective for the current 2025-26 school year and moving forward.

Under new business, no action was taken on MSBA Board Policy Updates 26A. The board set graduation for Sunday, May 23, at 2:00 p.m. as part of the 2026-2027 school calendar discussion. The board also approved decommissioning items to be listed for sale on GovDeals.com and approved an overnight trip request for state track athletes.

The board approved renewal of several educational support software subscriptions, including Nearpod, Renaissance, and Schools PLP, and authorized the superintendent to sign the agreements.

The board approved the purchase of ParentSquare as the district mass notification vendor. The minutes list the expected website transition in October and note the district will continue with Apptegy/Thrillshare through Sept. 30, 2026.

The board approved the purchase of 113 Chromebooks from DCW for a total cost of $50,573.02. The purchase includes 80 Chromebooks for seventh grade and 33 for staff.

The board also approved the District Professional Development Plan and authorized the superintendent to amend the budget to include scholarship agreements as determined by final adoption. Administrator reports were listed for elementary, high school, athletics, special education, curriculum/instruction/assessment, transportation, and OPAA! Food Service.

The board reconvened into executive session at 8:35 p.m. under RSMo 610.021 for items listed in the minutes. The board returned to open session at 11:42 p.m. and adjourned at 11:43 p.m.
