PALMYRA, MO – Key notes from the approved January 5, 2026 Marion County Commission meeting minutes.
The Marion County Commission met in regular session at the Palmyra courthouse and approved payroll for December 7–20, 2025, along with December fee reports from the prosecutor, circuit clerk, county clerk, recorder, sheriff, and public administrator.
Susan Gard updated the Commission on the county’s solar ordinance, explaining she is revising boundary and setback language so that the Commission can adjust those requirements on a project-by-project basis. Once Planning and Zoning submits a final draft, it will be sent for legal review.
County Coordinator Teya Stice reported that website contractor Sally Poole will be contacting county officeholders to confirm their pages, and Commissioner Miller indicated he is ready to switch to the new county website pending confirmation from Poole and county IT.
Stice also reported a MODOT soft-match balance of $458,359.53, will coordinate with Jim Bensom on ribbon-cutting dates for the Big Branch and Graupman bridge projects, and relayed a request from Christmas in Palmyra to let the city take over lighting the courthouse lawn tree—something the Commission is open to, provided electrical concerns are addressed.
The Commission agreed to a request from Bayview Campground owner Chris Berry to move forward with leasing the flood buyout properties at $100 per parcel (total $500) and noted reimbursement requests to MODOT for $31,151.81 on the Graupman Bridge and $123,355.05 on the Big Branch Bridge.
Commissioners also scheduled 2026 budget hearings for Tuesday, January 6, and adjourned to reconvene on January 12, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
