Batmobile, MARS, and Racing, OH MY; Action Packed Friday in Quincy
Quincy, IL — The Midwest Auto Racing Series took over at the Quincy Raceways. The point series brings in 23 Late Models and 19 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds. Along with Quincy Raceways 12 Crown Vics, 12 4 Cylinders, and 10 B Modifieds for a total of 76 cars on the night. As well as the Batmobile as the official pace car.

Drivers from different areas came to race at the Broadway Bullring. Even seeing the return of Lewistown’s Austin Howes, who is competing in the MARS series in his Late Model 17A across the Midwest. Howes picked up a Heat Race win. Other Lewis County Drivers included Nathan Bringer in the B Mods, Brian Kaylor in the Crown Vics, and Spencer Coates in the 4 Cylinders.
The Features would begin with the MARS UMP Modifieds with 19 cars packed tight. As on the first lap on the front straightaway, a major pileup would occur. Knocking out four racers. From there, the 777 of Trevor Neville from Mackinaw, IL would hold his lead the entire race to pick up the win, gain points, and a $2,000 prize for the win. Second is the 96M of Mike McKinney from Plainsfield, and third is Michael Ledford of Pontiac, IL, in the 09, who climbed from seventh to finish third.

Next was the MARS DIRTcar Late Models for a 30-lap feature. Led by the 10J of Jordan Bauer. On the last lap, the 38T of Dylan Thornton would get side-by-side with Bauer in an attempt to steal the win, but Bauer would stay just ahead and pick up the win and $5,000, along with the points.

The Quincy Raceways classes would take over with the B Mods up next. An exciting last group of laps as the 2W Reed Wolfmeyer would take over the lead position and race off to the finish. Followed by the 17C of A.J. Cline from Troy, MO, and the 77D of Drake Stevenson out of O’Fallon, MO.

The 4 Cylinders followed, and a dominant victory of Jake Benischek would see his 5 Car make it to victory lane. Followed by Jaden Delonjay and Kenny Butterfield.

To finish off the night was the oh-so-chaotic Crown Victoria class. The #32 Jacob Jones would dominate the race and find his way to victory lane. In second, Lewistown’s Brian Kaylor in the #72 would finish in second, even after being spun out early in the feature. Isaac Little would finish in third with his #4 car.

Quincy Raceways will have NO RACE on Sunday, the 17th, due to the MARS Race on Friday. But the Raceways will reopen Sunday, May 24th, for a Memorial Day race.
