Canton, MO – HOMEBANK opened in the Canton Shopping Center in 2017, the sixth of nine branches in Northeast and Central Missouri and Quincy, IL. A mid-sized bank with nearly $600 million in assets and about 130 employees, the company offers all the technology, products and services of a megabank, with the friendly customer service of a small, local bank. In its short six years in Canton, HOMEBANK has proven to be a good corporate citizen, supporting numerous nonprofit organizations with financial support, in-kind donations and manpower. HOMEBANK team members host a picnic for seniors graduating from Canton and Highland High Schools, volunteer at concession stands, make financial presentations to elementary school children, and support Culver-Stockton College, among other things.

Employees are leaders in the community. Branch Operations Manager Madison Chancellor, a Canton native, serves on the boards of the Lewis Street Playhouse, the Canton Main Street Association and Canton Kiwanis Club. She is vice president of the Board for the Friends of the Library, and for the past three years, she has been the event leader for Relay For Life. She volunteers for NECAC’s Back-to-School giveaway and the Adopt-a-Child Christmas program, too.

Customer Service Representative Kelly Berhorst was a business teacher at Canton High School for 30 years and an adjunct business professor at Culver-Stockton College for 17 years before embarking on her banking career. She is president of the Eagles Auxiliary in Canton, and she volunteers for the Relay For Life.

Assistant Vice President Hays Klocke serves as a Knox County High School Assistant Baseball Coach. He coaches a Little League team in the summer and serves as a referee/umpire at games across Northeast Missouri and in Quincy. 

Assistant Vice President Nathan Alderton, a 10-year banker, is a farmer and volunteers with the Farm Bureau at the Clark County Fair. He also has volunteered at the Lewis County Fair and LaBelle Rodeo.

Founded in 1934 in Palmyra, MO, HOMEBANK, member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender, celebrates its 90th anniversary next year. The institution’s corporate headquarters are still in Palmyra, and they also have other branches Hannibal, Bowling Green, Mexico, Centralia, and Lake Saint Louis, MO and two branches in Quincy IL. The family that currently owns the bank bought it in 1959 and the current leadership is the third generation of that family.
