Heated Action in the Bullring; Results & Photos

Quincy, IL — The Quincy Raceways saw some local sprint cars take to the track. A really heated evening wouldn’t keep a crowd of 1,300 from making the trip to watch racing in the Broadway Bullring. With 81 cars and seven classes, it made for an entertaining night at the races.

The heat races would close out with the Late Model Dash as Jeffery DeLonjay would pick up the Dash win to send the crowd to a brief intermission before the features.

The Vintage class made its return to the track. Last seen on opening night. Kevin Buckley, out of Boone Terre, MO, would find victory lane in his #3 car. Holding off Chad Eickleberry from Warrensburg, who would take second place in the #09. Marshall Skaggs, also of Boone Terre, would take third in the #6.

The 305 Sprint Cars would throw a little chaos in with a 20-lap feature. There were two stoppages in the race for wrecks. The second one came at the end of the race, as Paul Haley took the #17 to the finish line; he would find himself riding the wall in turn one and roll down. Haley would walk away from the wreck unscathed, and it made for a memorable first feature win of the Springfield, IL natives career. Cody Wehlre of Burlington would take second place, and Braxton Flatt would close it out with third for the Monmouth native.

The IMCA Late Models would head to the track for their feature race, as the #22 of Austen Becerra would charge from ninth place and take the lead with two laps remaining, and pick up another dramatic finish in Quincy. Jamie Wilson would take the #56 to a second-place finish, and Tommy Elston of Keokuk would take third.

The DirtCar Modifieds would see a dominant victory from the #29 of Chris Spalding, as the Montgomery City, MO native would take up victory lane. Dave Wietholder would take the #05 to second, and Rick Conoyer would round it out third in the #14.

In the IMCA SportsMod, the #77D Drake Stevenson would jump from third to pick up a dominant victory in Quincy. The #05 Dave Wietholder would pick up his second second-place finish. Canton, MO’s Adam Birk would pick up his second third-place finish in Quincy.

The DirtCar 4 Cylinders headed out. Dyllan Bonk would pick up another trip to victory lane. Followed by Gage Elston and Kimberly Abbott.

Lastly, the Crown Vics would compete with no points on the line as a late addition to the field. As the #422 of Jake Etter would make his return to the track and pick up the win in Quincy. Last week’s feature winner, Jeffery DeLonjay, would finish in second. Jacob Jones in the #32 would nab third.

Quincy will be back in action on Sunday, July 26th, before a break due to the Adams County Fair. The regularly scheduled fleet of classes will return to action, hopefully in cooler conditions.
