*Key notes summary from the most recently approved Lewis County C-1 Board of Education meeting held on December 10, 2025:
The consent agenda was approved, including the November 17, 2025 regular meeting minutes, setting the next meeting for Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and payment of bills through November 27, 2025. The board then approved the Fiscal Year 2025 audit report as presented.
Superintendent John French gave his monthly report, including the November financial update.
Under ongoing planning and improvement items, the board received updates on the district and building strategic plans, the Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP), climate and culture survey work, the “Portrait of a Graduate” initiative, and building improvement plans for both Highland Elementary and Highland High School, including WIN (“What I Need”) time.
They also reviewed the district facilities plan and an update on the FEMA shelter surveillance camera system.
For school speed limit signs, the board approved a bid from T&B Trucking & Excavation, LLC in the amount of $3,750. Safety and professional development plans were also reviewed.
The board approved a $1,500 cost for Marzano Research for the Success Ready Student Network and authorized administration to submit the necessary documentation.
They discussed MSBA policy update packet 2025D and voted to have Policy BDA revised as discussed while tabling the rest of the 2025D policy and procedure updates until the January meeting.
They noted that the district did not receive the AASA Sourcewell mini-grant.
The board approved decommissioning surplus items and listing them on GovDeals for sale, and decided to table a decision on the EPA grant for two electric buses until January.
They also voted to authorize the Superintendent to decline an invitation to be featured in The Education Magazine’s “The 10 Most Admired School Districts” special edition.
Under new business, the board approved an overnight request for students to attend the National FFA Next Gen Conference.
They approved a data-sharing agreement with the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development and authorized the superintendent to sign it, and separately approved a data-sharing agreement to allow Renaissance Learning data to be shared with the state, authorizing Traci Mosby to enable and submit that function.
A landscape proposal for Highland High School was tabled until January. The board approved the Mark Twain internet proposal with E-rate funding as presented and authorized the superintendent to accept and sign an agreement with InZata software pending attorney review of all contract language.
Administrator reports were given covering the elementary, high school, athletics, special education, curriculum/instruction/assessment, transportation, and OPAA! food service.
The board then returned to closed session at 8:24 p.m. under Section 610.021 (items 1, 3, 13, and 14). The meeting adjourned at 11:35 p.m. on a 7–0 vote.
