Lewistown Novemeber 2025 Minutes


November 3, 2025 

Mayor Sharpe called the meeting to order with Alderman, O’Neal, Handy, and Childress, Treasurer Lori Washburn, Clerk Betsy Kempe, Collector Rachel McKenzie, and Troy Ten Eyck. Alderman Lay was absent.

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting in October as printed and distributed. Alderman Handy seconded and the motion carried. 

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as printed and distributed. Alderman O’Neal seconded and the motion carried. 

Collector Rachel McKenzie advised that all city taxes have been sent out. 

The council directed the Clerk to put bids out to tear down the shelter house. 

The council and Troy discussed amending the water/sewer ordinance (2019-1) and increasing the connection/set up rates as the cost of materials and labor has increased. For the water, they discussed changing the meters set to be: short side meter set $1,250 and long side meter set to $2,000. If there is a highway bore it will be at the customers expense. For the sewer tap, it was discussed to be changed to $1,500 and an additional $1,000 if the street has be to cut. Alderman Handy made a motion to approve these changes and amend the current water/sewer ordinance and update it with the new connection/set up rates. Alderman O’Neal seconded and the motion carried. 

The council discussed donations for the new basketball/pickle ball court. Flyers will be made and hung 

up around the community for anyone to make donations. 

Being no further business come before the meeting, motion to adjourn was made by Alderman O’Neal and seconded by Alderman Childress. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
