Lewistown July 2025 Minutes


July 7, 2025 

Mayor Sharpe called the meeting to order with Alderman Lay, O’Neal, Handy, and Childress, Treasurer Lori Washburn, Clerk Betsy Kempe, Collector Rachel McKenzie, and Troy TenEyck

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting in June as printed and distributed. Alderman Lay seconded and the motion carried. 

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as printed and distributed. 

Alderman Handy seconded and the motion carried. 

Collector McKenzie only has one more property left to get paid for taxes. She was also instructed by the council to do a title search on the Farris property. 

Troy advised that he is still working with Mark Twain on getting fiber in Lewistown. 

A motion was made by Alderman Childress and seconded by Alderman Lay to have the first reading by title of Bill No. 2025-2 titled “An Ordinance Approving the 2025-2026 Fiscal Year Budget of the City of Lewistown, Missouri.” Motion carried. After the first reading by the Clerk, a motion to have the second reading by title was made by Alderman Lay and seconded by Alderman Handy. Motion carried. After the second reading, a motion was made by Alderman O’Neal to adopt and assign Bill No. 2025-2. Roll Call: Alderman Childress aye, Alderman Handy aye, Alderman O’Neal aye, and Alderman Lay aye. Motion carried. 

The council directed that a nuisance letter needs to be sent to Johnney Janes, Mike Zajac, David Lay, and Drexel & Grace Osborne. 

Being no further business come before the meeting, motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Childress and seconded by Alderman Lay. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
