Love seems to be an overused word and it has caused a lot of confusion about its meaning.  Some people use it to describe how they feel. Some use it to describe how much they like something like pizza or chocolate. However, when you get the true meaning of the word that we so overuse, you will find that it is a word that describes a commitment to something or someone.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 13 we find these words; “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

You see, the Apostle Paul was telling the church at Corinth that love is something that has a quality about it. It is unselfish, it doesn’t behave in a rude manner, it doesn’t seek its own, it isn’t provoked, isn’t puffed up. In fact, it rejoices in the truth, it bears all things, hopes all things endures all things, LOVE never fails. With everything else, they will fail, but love doesn’t give up hope for a better tomorrow. The apostle closes out the chapter with; “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
