Lyla Sue Merrell Obituary
Lyla Sue Merrell, 89 of Lewistown, Missouri passed away Friday, January 30, 2026 at 7:43 AM at the Country Aire Retirement Center in Lewistown.
The daughter of Lyle Dean and Mary Elizabeth Osborn Hamilton was born on October 17, 1936 at Louisiana, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Richard Clifton Merrell on May 6, 1956 at LaBelle, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2006.
Lyla was a member of the LaBelle Christian Church. She had worked for Hayes Auction Service and was the Activities Director at LaBelle Manor for several years. She enjoyed raising dogs and was known for her dog kennel. She also enjoyed shopping and boating.
She is survived by her sister, Sandy (Kenny) Penn of Lewistown, Mo. and a nephew, Chad Penn of Lewistown, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, David Lane Merrell.
Graveside services and inurnment will be held at a late date in the LaBelle Cemetery at LaBelle, Missouri.
