Tigers Move on in District Play; Polak Shows out
Queen City, MO — The Canton Tigers keep their season alive, as the Tigers pick up a win over the Knox County Eagles in the opening round of Districts. With a string of offensive hits and an impressive performance from Sophomore Richie Polak, the Tigers picked up a 9-3 over the Eagles.
The Tigers were first on the board. Kaden Oliver would get on base with a one-out walk, Drew Gottman would hit an RBI Triple from Third to score Oliver, followed by Richie Polak with an RBI single to give Canton a 2-0 lead. The Eagles would fain a run off a fielder’s choice to score and make it a 2-1 game.
In the bottom of the third, Kaden Oliver would start off with a single to get on base, and Drew Gottman would follow to add two to the bases. Richie Polak would garner a two-run double to left field to lift the Tigers to a 4-1 lead.
Bryson Brewer would add another run in the fourth with an RBI single to score Kaden Oliver. In the fifth, Drew Logsdon would score after Bryson Brewer would reach first on an error to give Canton a 6-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth, a pitching change with two on and no outs would see Knox County add two more runs on a passed ball and a sac hit to make it 6-3 in the game. The Tigers would add the last three runs in the bottom half. Richie Polak would score on a fielder’s error. Jayden Shuman would ground out to score Kaeden Gollaher. Ian Burbridge would follow it up with an RBI single to score Drew Logsdon. As the Tigers take down the Eagles in order and move on in the district playoffs.
The Tigers improve to 6-14 on the season and will move on to the next round of District Playoffs, taking on the number one-seeded Schuler County Rams on Monday, May 18th. First pitch slated for 5:00 P.M.
