Wildcats Shutdown the Ravens for Second Home Victory

The Men’s Wildcat Basketball team continues to rebound from a rough start to conference as they beat the Benedictine Ravens 87-77. The first half the Wildcats could not defend the arch allowing 24 points from outside the arch. Benedictine would end the first half shooting 55% from the field and 61% beyond the arch. At the half Benedict lead 44-38.

At Halftime Coach Hobbs was interviewed and asked what was the mindset coming into this game. He answered “We got to figure out how to defend better.”

The second half would see the Wildcats take over as they would force Benedictine to take shots. The Wildcats would shoot 70% from beyond the arch and 57% from the field. The Ravens would go 13% at the arch and 40% from the field.

Culver-Stockton got lead by Connor Davis with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Stevenson would follow up with 20 points himself.

Benedictine would be lead by Jack Vander Woude with 15 points. For a sophomore he is a dominant player. Haggan Hilgendorf would follow with 13.

Clearly Hobbs halftime coaching got into the team as the Wildcats took completely over in the second half of the game. Culver-Stockton would go 3-10 overall 3-6 in conference. Meanwhile Benedictine falls to 5-8(4-5) on the season. The Wildcats end their 2024 year with a win. They have an exhibition game at Maryville December 18th at 5 PM. They return to conference play January 2nd on the road against MidAmerica Nazarene. Afterwards the Wildcats will have a 3 game home stand.
