Bradi Lahr Signs Letter of Intent; Heads to Indian Hills
Quincy, IL — Quincy Notre Dame Senior and LaGrange native Bradi Lahr signed his National Letter of Intent surrounded by friends and family. Bradi will look to continue his wrestling career at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa.
Bradi wrestled in the 155lbs weight class. Last season, he broke his uncle and coach Daniel Yuraitis ‘ all-time wins record. “The win record was probably a big one, so I’m happy I got that.”
Bradi also discussed what it meant to have Daniel in his life.
“He’s been awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone push me quite as hard as he had. Anytime we have a family get-together, it’s just me and him in the kitchen, messing around. So he’s been a big part of my life. He’s teased me and tormented me my whole life, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Along with Daniel was his grandfather, Don Yuraitis, as Lahr discussed what it meant to have his grandfather along for the journey.
“He’s been more than just a coach to me. Of course, he’s my grandpa, but he’s been a mentor in my life, whether it’s changing oil or learning a new move on a wrestling mat. He’s taught me how to be the person I am today and has grown me as a man going into college.”
As Don talked about what Bradi brings to the table,
“Bradi, I’ve been coaching him since he was four years old. It’s been a long journey kind of, but short too. Right now it’s over with. But all’s I can tell is Bradi excelled every place he’s been. He’s a good leader. And I expect that he will continue that at the next level. Been a pleasure, Bradi, and time for a new chapter.”
QND Football coach Jack Cornell discussed the legacy Bradi leaves at QND.
“I’ve known Brady his entire life. I grew up with him and his family. And I know that he is, Uncle Daniel is one of my best friends in high school. And I watched Daniel set all the records that Brady eventually broke.”
“Brady’s one of our most decorated wrestlers in the history of this program. He’s going to a tremendous college for wrestling in Indian Hills. A lot of number one guys, it’s a team that competes at a very high level.”
Bradi also discusses the legacy he is leaving behind.
“I mean, it was great while I had it. I mean, it really was. It was fun doing all that stuff. The fact that I was able to go to QND is just insane to me. I’m so glad that my mom pushed me to come to QND. Best decision I ever made. It was fun while it lasted, but there’s another job to finish now.”
Lahr talks about what excites him about moving up to the college level.
“I’m excited to get in the room with some of those guys in there. I mean, you have national champs, multiple national champs in there around my way, and some state champs from other states around the country. I’m just super excited to get in there and work hard with them and get better.”
Indian Hill Warriors compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), where this past season the men’s team won its second consecutive NJCAA national championship, becoming the 16th program in NJCAA to accomplish this feat.
Bradi is also happy to still be close to home as he looks to return and stay in the area.
“Yeah, for sure. I’m super glad I can come back here and help out kids here, and hopefully try to go coach my sister as much as I can.”
Congratulations to Bradi Lahr and good luck at the next level!
