Brynlea Lahr Wins AAU State Championship
St. Louis, Mo. — Brynlea Lahr headed down to St. Louis, Mo., on February 1st. As she looked to claim a Amatuer Athletic Union State Championship. Brynlea competed in the Girls Cadet 125 weight class, where she wrestled three other wrestlers in a round-robin tournament.
Bryleas’ first match saw her face Lucy Selsor of the De Soto Dragons Wrestling Club. Winning the bout by pinfall in the second round.
Her second match pitted her against Thoroughbred Wrestling Academy’s Makaleigh Hahn. Brynlea would get a lead with a takedown and nearfall for 7 points. Hahn attempted a comeback with a reversal and a takedown, gaining 5. But it was not enough as Lahr won the match 7-5 by decision.
Lahr’s final match saw her take on Lucy Wohler of Wrecking Crew Wentzville. Brynlea would put on a dominating performance to win the bout 17-2 by technical fall in the first round, claiming the State Championship.
