Canton Falls to Clark County, Honors Memory of Carson Birck
Canton, MO – The Canton Tigers fell to the Clark County Indians, 4-2, as a pair of two-run home runs powered the Indians to victory.

Before the game, the Canton and Clark County communities came together for a special moment. The Tigers unveiled a plaque beneath the new scoreboard in memory of Carson Birck. His family, including his wife Jade, attended the ceremony.

A former Canton Tiger, Carson starred in both basketball and baseball — playing four years of basketball and starting three years on the baseball team before COVID-19 shortened his senior season. An all-state infielder, he helped lead the Tigers to a second-place finish at state in 2017. Carson later moved to the Clark County area with Jade. His life was tragically cut short in a workplace accident in September 2024.

Canton was the first team to record a hit but stranded runners in scoring position in three straight innings. Clark County broke the deadlock in the fourth. Sophomore Elijah Miller singled, and Corrick Hunziker followed with a two-run home run to left field. The Indians added insurance in the sixth as Miller singled again, and Hunziker hit his second two-run homer of the night.

The Tigers broke through in the bottom of the sixth. Senior Preston Brewer led off with a walk, and fellow senior Brett Ehrenreich connected on a two-run shot to left, trimming the deficit to 4-2. However, Canton couldn’t generate any more offense, and the Indians’ pitching staff closed out the win.

Hunziker also started on the mound for Clark County, throwing 5.0 innings with 4 hits, 1 earned run, and 8 strikeouts. Ronan Anderson earned the save, pitching the final 2.0 innings with 1 hit, 1 run, and 3 strikeouts. At the plate, Miller went 2-for-3 with two singles, while Hunziker finished 2-for-3 with two home runs and 4 RBIs. The Indians improve to 7-9 on the season. They will return home to play the Quincy Notre Dame Raiders on Tuesday April 29th. First pitch slated for 5:00 P.M. CST.

Preston Brewer pitched a complete game for Canton, going 7 innings with 12 strikeouts and 4 earned runs. Sophomore Cameron O’Brien went 1-for-2 with a double, and Ehrenreich finished 1-for-3 with his two-run homer. The Tigers fall to 8-4 on the season. They will continue their five game home stand as they will play the La Plata Bulldogs on April 29th. First pitch slated for 5:00 P.M. CST.
