Canton Tigers Get Through Sectionals

After two years of falling in the sectional round, the Canton Tigers broke through, defeating the Clopton Eagles 69-37 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Class 2 State Tournament. The Tigers never trailed, opening the game with a dominant 20-point run. By halftime, they led 39-22.

Preston Brewer led the Tigers with 22 points, including 10 in the first quarter. Tyler Frazier contributed 14 points, while Bleu Taylor added 12, and Drew Gottman chipped in 11.

Canton will return home to face the Harrisburg Bulldogs on Friday, March 7, at 7:00 p.m. The matchup is a rematch of last year’s sectional round, where Harrisburg defeated the Tigers 53-38. The Tigers will continue to try and flip the script on the last two seasons as they want to make a deep run in the playoffs.
