December 19, 2023
John Waterman called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm on December 19, 2023, at the Canton Base. Those present were John Waterman, President, Marsha Allison, Vice President, Sharon Scifres, Secretary, Chris Heimer, Sarah Job, Donnie Martin and Martha Bogguss, Administrator. Also attending were Greg Wright, Cassie West, Brandon Davis, and Matt Dade.
No Additions to the agenda, Marsha moved to accept the agenda, Chris seconded, motion passed.
John, seconded by Marsha, moved to approve the minutes of November 9, 2023. Motion passed.
Financial report: Martha has renewed the CD we had into two, 1- 6 month and 1-12 month. John suggested to putting the $50,000.00 we had budgeted to pay toward a new ambulance in a CD for 6 months instead to earn interest. Marsha, seconded by Sharon, moved to approve the budget with that adjustment. Motion carried.
Old Business:
1. Schedule: Still running BLS some days. Some days just have one truck. Trying to keep the trucks going.
2. Benefits: John seconded by Chris moved to approve the following benefit: Starting
January 1 the LCAD will give each full time employee $300.00 a month to be deposited in an HRA account to be used to pay for Be Well, AFLAC or to be used for deductibles etc. Part-time employees who work a consistent 72 hours a month will receive $100.00 per month to be deposited in a HRA account to be used for Be Well, AFLAC, or used toward deductibles etc. Motion passed. See the proposed PTO sent out by Martha.
3. EMT Class: There are 10 signed up with a possible 2 more. Only 2 applications for
scholarships to be discussed in closed session. Greg will teach the beginning with Cassie finishing it up.
4. Scholarship/sponsorship: to be discussed in closed.
5. Building repair: Have received the check from the insurance. We now need to find someone to do the repairs.
New Business:
1. Sponsorship for Paramedic Training: to be discussed in closed.
Marsha, seconded by Chris, moved to go into closed session. Motion passed.
Back in open session, Chris, seconded by Marsha, moved to approve a sponsorship for Brendan Davis for Paramedic Training at Boone County Fire Protection District Paramedic Training
Program. The tuition is $7,000.00. Requirements will be: pass the class, service to continue with the LCAD as a part-time employee, will continue serving LCAD for 2 years after completing the class as a part-time employee. If these requirements are not met he will be required to pay back the $7,000.00. Martha will have a contract drawn up to sign. Motion carried.
Sharon, seconded by Donnie, moved to approve EMT scholarships to Hunter Yates and Zach O’Neal. After completing the course each will have the opportunity to apply for a position with LCAD. Motion carried.
