During public comments, Tricia Hinton shared a brief itinerary and cost explanation for the History Club trip to Kansas City, and Joe Hattey spoke about the need for the district to purchase a van.
The Board approved the consent agenda, which included the January 21, 2026 minutes, setting the next meeting dates (March 11, April 8, and a special reorganization meeting on April 16).
In old business, the Board continued work on strategic planning and the Continuous School Improvement Plan, reviewed grant updates, and noted no action on a possible stipend for a hotspot sponsor.
The Board also noted that filing has closed for the Board of Education election and that with five candidates filing, an election will be required; ballot language has been completed and sent to all five county clerks’ offices.
Under new business, the Board authorized the superintendent to release RFPs for district mowing services, snow removal, tire mounting and repairs, and bus purchases.
On the topic of purchasing a school van, the Board did not vote because only four members were present at that time, but they asked the superintendent to tentatively notify the dealership that the district is interested in two vans currently available, with a final vote to be taken when all or most members are present.
The Board was also told no make-up days are needed for snow days because they are built into the calendar, and the day missed due to a broken sewer line was handled as an AMI day.
The Board later reconvened into closed session under RSMo 610.021.
