Lewis County School to Hold “Portrait of a Graduate” with Spaghetti Dinner.

The Lewis County C-1 School District is inviting the community to take part in shaping the future of its students through a “Portrait of a Graduate” community meeting, set for Tuesday, March 19, at Highland High School.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a free spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Board of Education. Child supervision will also be provided, and attendees will enjoy a showcase of student talent — including a PK-2 musical performance, potential band or choir presentations, and desserts prepared by culinary students.

At 6:30 p.m., the community meeting will begin and is expected to last no more than two hours. The meeting will be facilitated by Battelle for Kids, a national organization specializing in educational development and community engagement.

Superintendent John French said the event is about bringing people together to help shape a unified vision for students in the Lewis County C-1 School District.

“This evening is about engaging students, parents, business leaders, faith leaders, health care professionals, and others to gather input and build a collective vision of what we want for every graduate in our school district,” French said.

The initiative aligns with the district’s work with the American Association of School Administrators and its participation in the Redefining Ready and Learning 2025 national programs, as well as Missouri’s Success Ready Students Network. It also serves as a continuation of the district’s Continuous School Improvement Plan, which was developed with community input.

Ultimately, the district hopes this work will build stronger ties with the community and help provide real-world learning opportunities and career pathways for students — ensuring every Highland graduate is prepared for college, career and life.

Attendees are encouraged to share their perspectives on the hopes and aspirations they have for students, the skills and mindsets students need to succeed, and how the school system can best design meaningful, equitable learning experiences.

An RSVP is requested to help the district plan for dinner and child supervision. A QR code to RSVP is available on promotional materials.

Special thanks to Superintendent John French for taking the time to share the heart behind this initiative and for his dedication to the students, staff, and families of the LCC-1 community.
