Canton Tigers Move to Sectionals


The Canton Tigers secured their third consecutive district title with a 63-45 victory over the Schuyler County Rams. They will now face the Clopton Eagles, who defeated the Van-Far Indians 55-52 with a buzzer-beating three-pointer.

Preston Brewer led the team with 18 points, while Kaden Oliver contributed 14. Chris Alspaw added another 12 points to boost the Tigers’ scoring. Canton outscored Schuyler County in all but one quarter—the fourth—where both teams finished with 10 points.

The Tigers will travel to Clopton High School on Monday, March 3. Canton and Clopton previously faced off in December, with the Tigers securing an 86-78 victory. Last year, Canton hosted a sectional matchup against the Harrisburg Bulldogs but fell 53-38. The year before, the Tigers and Eagles met in sectionals, a game that went into overtime before Clopton edged out a 47-45 win.
