The Canton Tigers Shake off Rust Against Mustangs
The Canton Tigers finally get to play as they get ready for the beginning of the District Tournament. The Class 2 District 6 tournaments begin Monday the 24th at Schuyler County. Both Tiger Squads have been unable to play due to weather. However the Tigers would play their regularly scheduled match at the Marion County Mustangs.
Girls Get Dominant Win
Coach Baker and her squad shook off the rust with a dominant 78-46 victory over the Lady Mustangs. The Tigers controlled the pace from the start, maintaining a firm lead throughout the game. Chayse Uhlmeyer set the tone early, scoring 12 points in the first quarter alone. By halftime, the Tigers held a 44-29 advantage. Uhlmeyer finished the night with 17 points, while the team was led by Kenna Oliver, who scored 21 points.

Foul trouble was a concern in the first half, as the Mustangs reached the bonus in both quarters. However, the Tigers cleaned up their play in the second half, committing far fewer fouls as they found their rhythm.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 15-10 and now turn their attention to a rescheduled home matchup against Silex on the 19th. They will then host Kirksville on Saturday. Canton holds the No. 2 seed in the district tournament and has earned a first-round bye. They will face the winner of (3) Scotland County vs. (6) Schuyler County on the 27th.
With the loss, the Lady Mustangs will look to regroup and gain momentum heading into the Class 1 District 10 tournament. They will face the top-seeded North Shelby Lady Raiders on the road before meeting the Macon County/Bucklin Lady Raiders to begin their tournament run.
Boys Confident Fourth gets the Job Done

Coach Armontrout’s squad showed a bit more rust tonight but shook it off when it mattered most in the fourth quarter. The Tigers pulled away from the Mustangs with a 51-43 victory. Newly committed Quincy University player Preston Brewer led the team with 13 points. Despite his scoring, Brewer also kept his teammates involved, as Kaden Oliver added 12 points and Tyler Frazier chipped in 11. The Tigers trailed 32-31 heading into the final quarter but erupted for a game-high 20 points to take the lead and secure the win.
With the victory, the Tigers improve to 18-5 and will next face Silex and Kirksville. Sitting at the top with the No. 1 seed, they will have a bye and will play the winner of (4) Scotland County vs. (5) Milan.

The Mustangs were led by Porter Britt, who scored 16 points, while Joey Lagemann followed with 11 points. Marion County will travel to North Shelby next, and they play in the Class 1 District 11 tournament, though the bracket has yet to be released.
