Tigers Soccer Keeps Season Rolling; Beat Comets 7-0


Jefferson City, MO — The Canton Lady Tigers Soccer team opened its district play in an opening round match, taking on the Fatima Comets and picking up a 7-0 victory to move on in District Play.

Senior MaryKate McReynolds picked up a hat trick, scoring three goals on the night. Junior Chayse Uhlmeyer and Senior Kadence Taylor would both garner a goal and give an assist in the match.

Senior midfielder Emma Thrower would score two goals. Junior Dannica Lewis and Sophomore Zoe Gaither would add an assist to the game as well.  

The Tigers would put up 17 shots on the night and have six corner kick opportunities. The Tigers were offside 10 times and committed only 4 fouls in the match.

Defensively, the Tigers only allowed two shots on goal from the Comets. As Senior Netminder Madilyn Nelson and the defense put up a shutout against the Comets.

“It was a complete team effort from start to finish.” Said head coach Sarah Mueller, “The girls controlled the tempo of play and took advantage of their chances early and often.”

Coach Mueller discussed what’s next for the Lady Tigers.

“We have our work cut out for us in the next game, but we are looking forward to it. We are enjoying every game we get to play together right now, and we aren’t taking anything for granted; we are making the most of every moment.”

The Lady Tigers (4-9-1) continue District play against the number one-seeded and number one team in the Class 1 Missouri Soccer Power Rankings, the Duchesne Pioneers (9-7-1). Taking place on May 20th, with a 5 P.M. start time at Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City.
