28 STRAIGHT; Culver-Stockton Spoils Clarke’s Homecoming Festivities


Dubuque, Iowa – The Culver-Stockton Wildcats picked up another win on Saturday, October 18th. The Wildcats traveled up to Clarke University where the Pride hosted their Homecoming. The Wildcats would play spoiler in the festivities as 28 unanswered first-half points would be all the Wildcats needed to get the win, 28-21.

The Pride would strike first with a 70 yard drive that resulted in a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Caleb Perry. The Wildcats would answer back and answer loudly. A 70 yard drive of their own would end with Quarterback Liam Thornton rushing for a 7-yard touchdown.

The second quarter would see the Wildcats shine, as a 75 yard drive results in a Tajh Washington 3-yard rushing touchdown. A defensive stop would force the Pride to punt. The Wildcats would drive 59 yards with another Tajh Washington 3-yard rushing touchdown. The Wildcats would force another punt and drive the ball 56 yards for a 13-yard touchdown pass to Tight end Thomas Shue. The Pride would finally find a response after a 65 yard drive results in a 27 yard touchdown pass to Jackson Ostrand. 

The last points would come in the fourth quarter when the Pride would march down the field for a 90 yard drive with a Caleb Perry rushing touchdown for 8 yards. 

Wildcat Quarterback Liam Thornton threw for 299 yards, going 25-40 on the day. Receiver Kyle Dixon received eight passes for 113 yards. Shamon Coleman rushed for 11 attempts and garnered 66 yards.

The Wildcats improve to 4-3 overall, 2-1 in the North Division. At the same time, the Pride fall to 1-6 overall, 1-2 in the North Division. The Wildcats will return home on Saturday, October 25th, to celebrate Homecoming. The Wildcats will host North Division opponent the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees. Kick-off slated for 12:30 PM.
