Canton R-V February 2026 School Board Meeting
CANTON, MO – *Key notes from the most recently approved February 9, 2026 Canton R-V Board of Education meeting.
The Board of Education met in the Media Center Conference Room with President Susan Biggerstaff calling the meeting to order. Board members present at roll call were Susan Biggerstaff, Jake Schaefer, Lacy Spurgeon, Taylor Fahser, and Chad DeWaard. Larry Arnold (Treasurer) entered the meeting at 6:06 p.m., and Stacey Guilfoyle was absent.
During citizen communication, a thank-you card was presented, and Culver-Stockton students were recognized for their presence at the meeting.
Superintendent Jesse Uhlmeyer reported that the district’s FY2026 financial audit has been scheduled for July 23, 2026. He also discussed a short-term budget reduction plan for the remainder of the fiscal year and budget development for the upcoming fiscal year based on current and projected financial data and legislation, and provided a legislative update.
In new business, the board approved drafting a formal request to join The OSBA Insurance Consortium.
The board also approved an overnight trip for FFA members to attend the Missouri Convention in Columbia from April 15–17, 2026, and approved an overnight trip for qualifying FBLA students to attend the state convention from April 12–14, 2026.
The board then went into executive session where it accepted the resignations of Katrina Decoster and Michele Gnuse.
The board also approved extending a contract to Elementary Principal Jena Oilar for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years. The meeting then adjourned following a final vote.
