Cougars Pick Win Over Louisiana
Lewistown — The Highland Cougars found their first win of the season as they took down the Louisiana Bulldogs, 11-10. The Cougars and Bulldogs faced off in a hitters’ duel throughout the game.
The Cougars took an early lead, putting 4 runs in the first. They would head out of the bottom of the fourth up 8-1 over the Bulldogs. However, the Bulldogs’ offense would start to find its way back into the game. Putting up 7 runs to tie the game up in the fifth.
However, the Cougar offense would regain the lead in the bottom half. Capping with a Casey DeClue RBI single to score Heath Feldkamp to gain the winning run. The Bulldogs would bring the game within one in the top of the 7th. But the Cougars would hold off the Bulldogs to gain the win.
After the game, coach Clay Street discussed what the win does for the team,
“You know, I’ve been trying to tell them and tell them that they are a good team. They just have to believe in themselves. Hopefully, they believe in themselves a little bit more than they did before we got out here today.”
The Cougars improve to 1-8 on the season. They will stay home for two more games, starting Tuesday, April 21st, when they take on the Palmyra Panthers. Followed by a game against the Macon Tigers, where the Cougars will celebrate Senior Day.
