Lewistown August 2025 Minutes

August 4, 2025 

Mayor Sharpe called the meeting to order with Alderman Lay, O’Neal, Handy, and Childress, Treasurer Lori Washburn, Clerk Betsy Kempe, and Troy Ten Eyck 

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting in July as printed and distributed. Alderman Lay seconded and the motion carried. 

Alderman Lay made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as printed and distributed. Alderman O’Neal seconded and the motion carried. 

Collector Rachel McKenzie advised that there will be no tax sale for the city. 

Troy and the council had discussion on getting water off Highway 6 when it rains. Alderman O’Neal made a motion to put out bids to put in road grates on Highway 6. Alderman Handy seconded and the motion. carried. Alderman Childress made a motion to put an extension riser of the lift station. Alderman O’Neal seconded and the motion carried. 

Alderman Childress made a motion to add Mayor Wes Sharpe to all bank accounts at the Bank of Monticello and United State Bank. Alderman Handy seconded and the motion carried. 

The council directed that a nuisance letter needs to be sent to Garrett Austin, Jonathon Rector, Robert Dodd, John Janes, Mike & Rhonda Zajac, Sloppy Jalopy, Robert Simmons, Monte Corbin, & Terry Cramsey. 

Being no further business come before the meeting, motion to adjourn was made by Alderman O’Neal and seconded by Alderman Childress. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
