Lewistown Sept 2025 Minutes


September 2, 2025 

Mayor Sharpe called the meeting to order with Alderman Lay, O’Neal, Handy, and Childress, Treasurer Lori Washburn, Clerk Betsy Kempe, Collector Rachel McKenzie, and Troy TenEyck

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular and special meeting in August as printed and distributed. Alderman Handy seconded and the motion carried. 

Alderman Lay made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as printed and distributed. Alderman O’Neal seconded and the motion carried. 

Collector Rachel McKenzie advised that she has taxes ready to go and will be mailed out in October. 

Troy advised that he received two bids to put in tubes along Highway 6. Green Construction’s bid was $6,795 per tube and Scott Harrison gave a bid of $150 per foot. Alderman Childress made a motion to approve Scott Harrison’s bid at 300 feet of tubes for $150 per foot which is $45,000.00. Alderman Handy seconded and the motion carried. 

A motion was made by Alderman Childress and seconded by Alderman Lay to have the first reading by title of Bill No. 2025-3 titled “An Ordinance of the City of Lewistown, Missouri, To Establish a Procedure to Disclose Potential Conflicts of Interest and Substantial Interests for Certain Officials.Motion carried. After the first reading by the Clerk, a motion to have the second reading by title was my by Alderman O’Neal and seconded by Alderman Handy. Motion carried. After the second reading, motion was made by Alderman Childress and seconded by Alderman Lay to adopt and assign Bill No. 2025-3. Roll Call: Childress aye, Handy aye, O’Neal aye, Lay aye. Motion carried. 

The council directed that a nuisance letter needs to be sent to Robert Simmons, Terry Cramsey, and Danny James. 

Alderman Childress made a motion to approve charging $.25 per page if anyone would like a copy of any 

ordinances. Adlerman Handy seconded and the motion carried. 

Being no further business come before the meeting, motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Childress and seconded by Alderman O’Neal. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
