Lewis County Commission – August 3rd, 2026
MONTICELLO, Mo. — *Key notes from the Lewis County Commission meeting held on August 3, 2026.
The Lewis County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Wayne Murphy Jr., Southern Commissioner Travis Fleer, and Northern Commissioner Craig Redmon present. The commission approved the minutes from the July 20 and July 27, 2026 meetings.
The commission approved timecards from July 19 through August 1 and approved bills for payment from county funds.
Road & Bridge Supervisor Drew Frese and Secretary Colclough were present. The commission and Supervisor Frese discussed a letter from Brightspeed stating the county had caused damages. According to the minutes, Commissioners Murphy and Redmon looked at the reported damages, and Supervisor Frese also looked. The minutes state they did not know how a grader or mower would have reached it. The commission agreed not to pay until Supervisor Frese could talk to someone, and the minutes state he has attempted many times but has not received an answer or information.
Road & Bridge reported adding rock on Road #510 for two-tenths of a mile, stopping at Jim Wilkin’s driveway. The commission also discussed writing a letter to O’Laughlin’s regarding concrete being dumped in county ditches.
Road #255, also listed as Dairy Road, was temporarily closed while work is being done to fix it, build it up, and add dust control.
Road & Bridge reported routine maintenance work, including grading multiple roads, mowing, laying tubes at Roads #202 and #530, and hauling county rock. The minutes also note a public-paid driveway tube for Lair.
Commissioner Redmon attended the TAC meeting Wednesday, July 29, at 10 a.m. in Memphis.
In other business, Clerk Sapp submitted the July clerk’s fee report, July election fees report, July court order report, and July budget report. Recorder Parrish submitted her July report. Commissioner Murphy signed the assessor’s April-June 2026 reimbursement report submitted by Clerk Sapp. Clerk Sapp also gave the commission the MAC conference registration papers.
Jared Noland with Klinger and Associates held an introductory meeting with the commission, where MoDOT’s downfalls were discussed.
The meeting adjourned to Monday, August 10, 2026.
