Canton Duo Advances to State in Track and Field

Montgomery County, MO – The Canton Tigers pair of sophomore Dannica Lewis and junior Sophia Slater are continuing their journey of the 2025 track and field season. With top-four finishes in their respective events, they have qualified for the Class 1 State Track and Field Meet, which will take place in Jefferson City on May 23–24.

SOPHIA SLATER
Slater competed in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a distance of 9.6 meters to earn her spot at state.

DANNICA LEWIS
Lewis placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.23 seconds, securing her state qualification.

Head coach Kevin Jarvis shared his excitement for the two athletes and their achievement.
“I think I’m as excited as Sophia and Dannica,” Jarvis said. “I know how hard each of them have worked at their events. Now they get to enjoy the fruits of their labor.”
