City of Ewing April 2026 Minutes
EWING, Mo- *Key notes from the City of Ewing meeting held on April 14, 2026.
Guest Polly Klocke spoke to the board about the ditch behind her building, which she said starts at the Co-op and runs through the block to the street. She said she thinks there are chemicals in it and that the ditch is starting to wash out. She also raised concern that plywood placed by Hester Community Church on the corner is blocking traffic. The city decided to contact both Hester Community Church and the Co-op and ask them to correct the problems.
The board also reported that the new sewer billing process is going well, with a few expected issues.
Several old business items were discussed. The board discussed the poor condition of the road at 15 Lakeview Drive and concerns that a large trash truck using the area may be damaging the road. Mayor Wagy planned to contact GFI about helping with repair costs and using a smaller truck. The city also planned to order asphalt and contact Tom Willis for an estimate on the needed work.
The board continued discussing Christmas decorations, including the cost of replacement lights and garland. Mayor Wagy planned to contact Ameren about updating plugs on the poles, and the city plans to purchase two or three new decorations each year.

Memorial items were also discussed. Cliff Wade and Brandon Beasley were checking into large stones for a memorial in the park. A memorial bench for Alan Toliver has been ordered and will be paid for by 12 Point Gun Club and Loretta Toliver.
Street issues included MoDOT replacing the tube by Route 6 and West Bryan Street below the car wash. The board still needs to check on the tube at Mr. Tucker’s corner. Aldermen also planned to drive the streets and report which ones need work at the next meeting.
The city ordered rock for 500 North Clow Street, which was described as a city street and a cut-through to Highway 156. The board also noted that only two speed bumps remain by Stark’s house on Clow Street because the others have been stolen.
The board voted to purchase a NorthStar tow-behind trailer sprayer from Northern Tool for $2,199.99. The city also discussed replacing the broken flag pole on Highway 6 and checking where other local groups purchased their flag poles.
Shirley Robertson and Susie Wood were checking into a Missouri Rural Water Association seminar in May.
The spray field and lagoons were reported to be working well, and the sewer pumps were also reported to be doing well.
The city continued discussing possible plans for America’s 250th anniversary, including business decorations, flowers, a park banner, or a banner across the street.
Under new business, the board noted that Brandon Beasley and Jeff Ray ran unopposed and will continue in their seats.
Simon Thrower did not sign up and has decided to retire, so the city will need to appoint someone to his seat. The board also voted to order a lagoon “bugs” system designed to help eat sludge out of the lagoons.
The board discussed Park Party 2026, which will be the 20th year for the park and also the 250th year of America’s Independence. The city also discussed checking prices on moisture-proof storage totes for paperwork stored in the shed.
