The Ewing City Council Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dean Wagy. Aldermen in attendance were Alan Toliver, Cliff Wade, Simon Thrower, and Alderwoman Susie Wood.
Guests were representatives from Cedar Ridge Disposal Services of Monroe City, Republic Waste Services, Green for Life Trash Service, and RTS Waste Services (by text and telephone).
We had a discussion about trash receptacles, from 65 gal to 96 gal. All companies said they could do that. Costs were comparable across the board. Our fee to send postcards and mailing will be added to the bill. The current contract will end on June 27, 2024, the last Thursday of June. Increase will show up on the July bill. The contract will be for 4 years (July 1 to June 30) each year. Mayor Wagy thanked the guests for coming.
Alan Toliver made a motion to accept RTS Waste Services for another contract. Simon Thrower seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Agenda: Simon Thrower made a motion to accept the agenda, seconded by Alan Toliver. Motion carried.
Review of City Bills: Cliff Wade made a motion to accept the city bills, seconded by Susie Wood. Motion carried.
Review of Sewer Bills: Cliff Wade made a motion to accept the sewer bills, seconded by Simon Thrower.
Hydro-Kinetics Corp. of St. Louis sent us a bill for the problems with the
Hadfield pump station. Lift station was not running properly. The issue was
with level control electronics. The first visit was to troubleshoot and determine the root cause of the failure. The second trip was to install new hardware and test system. Two new parts were required to complete the service: Integrenix and IS barrier. When asked what could be causing the problem Alex replied it must have been lightning. The cost for all of this was $3,745.65. Mayor Wagy reported that the pump is running much better.
The spray field pump is at Vandevanter Engineering of Kansas City getting repaired. They had to take it completely apart to find out what was going on. It should be coming soon to be put back in to service. The bill was $16,000.
With no further business, Alan Toliver made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Cliff Wade. Motion carried.
Next Meeting will be April 9, 2024
