Cougars Can’t Overcome Thunderbirds on Senior Night
Lewistown, MO — The Highland Cougars honored their seniors on senior night as they took on the North Callaway Thunderbirds, but the Cougars suffered a tough 47-32 loss.
Before the game, after the girls’ game. The Winter athletes were honored for their achievements on the court. The Highland Basketball team had one senior, Christopher Gause.

The Cougars started off on a high note with a 9-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 13-4 in the second, but North Callaway started to turn the game around as the Thunderbirds put up 11 points, including a buzzer-beater three-pointer, to take the lead at halftime, 15-13.
The Thunderbirds would not give up the lead as they kept the Cougars behind by 10 or more, as the Cougars couldn’t find momentum to get back in the game. The Cougars would bring it within 8 at the end of the third, 28-20. But North Callaway would put up 17 points. The Cougars put up 12 with a buzzer-beater three-pointer from Christopher Gause to end the game. Falling 47-32.
