Cougars Fall 1-0 in Pitching Duel with Centralia
Lewistown, MO – The Highland Cougars came up short in a Clarence Cannon Conference pitching duel Tuesday night, falling 1-0 to the Centralia Panthers.
Jaylynn Brown was dominant for Centralia, going the distance with 17 strikeouts while allowing just two hits. Highland’s ace, Abby Lay, matched her pitch for pitch most of the way, tossing seven innings with five hits, six strikeouts, and just one earned run.
The deciding run came in the third inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, a wild pitch allowed Ealynne Bostick to come home. That slim margin held the rest of the way.
Highland slips to 8-4 on the season and will stay at home for a Thursday matchup against Milan. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
