July 1st 2024 – Lewis County Commission
July 1, 2024
The Commission met pursuant to order of adjournment on June 24, 2024, with Associate Commissioners Travis Fleer, and Deanne Whiston present. When and where the following proceedings were had to wit: Commissioner Murphy called the meeting to order:
Minutes: Commissioner Whiston made a motion to approve minutes for June 24, 2024. Commissioner Fleer agreed. Approved 2-0.
Payroll: Commissioner Whiston motioned to approve the payment of warrants #203391-203392 from General fund, warrants #203393-203398 from Road & Bridge fund, warrants #203399 from Assessment fund, and warrant # from LEOF. Commissioner Fleer agreed. Passed 2-0.
Payroll: Commissioner Whiston motioned to approve the payment by EFTP of warrants #2935- 2950 from General fund, warrants #2951-2953 from Road & Bridge fund, warrants #2954-2955 from Assessment fund, and warrant #2956-2971 from LEOF fund. Commissioner Fleer agreed. Approved 2-0.
Bills: Commissioner Whiston motioned to approve the payments of warrants #32065-32072 from General Revenue, warrants #22257-22267 from Road & Bridge, warrants #5789-5791 from the Assessment, warrants #20997-21004 from L.E.O.F, and warrants #1169 from Co Farm. Commissioner Fleer agreed. Approved 2-0.
Road & Bridge: Road and Bridge Supervisor Larry Janes and Secretary Colclough were present.

Checked road after the rain
Sprayed weeds
1993 Mac picked up from Quincy Mack the A/C was fixed and a new seal was put in the back window
Worked on the sprayer motor
Going to buy a battery powered weed eater
Welded on the International bed
Hauled spot rock and bladed #282
Bladed roads- # 297, 294, 405, 420, 425, 424, 433, 441, 453, 455, 479, 471
Roy mowed- #509 & 471
Robert Dodd filled out all needed paperwork for payment after being terminated
T&D Lawn & Landscaping delivered landscaping blocks- Supervisor Janes unloaded them
Secretary Colclough asked the commission where to take the collectors reimbursement from- Commissioner Fleer told her to pay it from miscellaneous
Other Business: MetLife renewal rates for 2025 – the only change was dental
Deputy Sly submitted the leave balance report
Clerk Sapp submitted the June budget report
Amy Crawford- area engineer and Keith were in to discuss with the commission Amy returning to the area engineer job- roads that were fixed and roads that are scheduled to be fixed in the future- the governor’s vetoes on road funding- the Canton and Maywood sidewalk projects were discussed
Commissioner Fleer called Frank with Gallagher to ask questions about an employee’s deductible and out of pocket expenses
Sheriff Parrish was in to let the commission know he received a grant for $54,000.00 for new duct work and the outside duct being wrapped- The money needs to be spent by July 31st, 2024 and he asked about paying the bill in advance, having a contract, and getting on the schedule for the cooler months
Adjourn: Motion to adjourn to Monday, July 8, 2024, by Commissioner Whiston. Commissioner Whiston agreed, passed 2-0.
