*Key notes from the Lewis County Commission meeting held on May 11, 2026.
Road & Bridge Supervisor Drew Frese and Secretary Colclough reported crews had been doing regular maintenance work across multiple county roads, including grading, mowing, and hauling rock. A roadway issue on County Road 509 was addressed by cutting shelf rock out on a curve.
The commission also heard that the Orange Street Bridge was expected to be finished this week, with Road & Bridge working to schedule a MoDOT inspection for later in the week.
Other items discussed included courthouse work, with Full-Service Roofing scheduled to fix an issue at the rear entrance area.
Sheriff’s office updates included that no bids were submitted for grill guards, a manifold replacement was expected on a sheriff’s truck, and the sheriff’s office received a match grant for jail door repairs with work expected to be completed by the end of next week.
The sheriff’s office reported hiring a new jailer and being at full staff, and noted receiving Blue Shield status for the second year in a row.
The commission also met with Chelsea to discuss HB 2637 and HB 3155 regarding part-time pay for prosecuting attorneys. The meeting adjourned to Monday, May 18, 2026.
