Palmyra City Council Meeting Minutes – April 2nd, 2026


PALMYRA, MO- *Key notes from the most recently approved Palmyra City Council meeting held on April 2, 2026:

The council was informed that the finance chair approved ordering eight iPads for elected officials and the city attorney for $3,731.12, noting it was budgeted for FY2027.

The council was also advised SN Noble (Sydenstricker) will no longer have in-house charge accounts. The council chose not to apply for a John Deere Financial multi-use charge account and directed department heads to use the city credit card or find a different vendor for parts and services.

Council approved amending the current fiscal year budget by moving $5,000 from the police task force expense line item to the police equipment expense line item.

In committee updates, the police committee reported discussion of the upcoming budget, the Blue Shield grant, and the department’s training schedule. The council was told the traffic camera no longer works, and the council voted to declare the police traffic camera as surplus and authorize disposal.

Street and alley committee updates included discussion of the street department budget, employee overview, and a replacement list for sidewalk and gutter installation, along with discussion about possibly adding another employee and using a part-time retiree.

The council also discussed contractors requesting to borrow the city’s curb forms and the Chamber of Commerce wanting to place banners on the city’s historical light poles and update banner brackets.

Additional updates included the Nutrition Center removing carpet by the ramp and installing an epoxy-finish covering, and a note that a Council Member offered to assist the Water/Wastewater Manager with discussions about sewer easements on Thompson.

The street commissioner reported old truck 1 will be listed on the Purple Wave online auction during April.

The city attorney also reported progress on a case involving a family and said he is waiting for a settlement proposal.

Mayor Adrian reported work related to a small data center, leadership training for supervisors in 2027, and business license requirements, and noted a resident concern about hazardous materials being parked on the street.
