Palmyra City Council Meeting Minutes – May 7, 2026
PALMYRA, Mo. — Key notes from the Palmyra City Council meeting held on May 7, 2026.
The council approved moving forward with FEMA’s option to close out a project at the currently obligated amount of $1,884,238.50, with a federal share of $1,413,178.89. Additional work on the project will not be covered by FEMA.
Council members accepted an engineering contract with Klingner & Associates for a sidewalk project on the west side of South Main under the MoDOT TAP Grant. They also approved a contract with MECO Engineering for a $5,500 structural assessment of four nuisance buildings.
A bid from Martin Equipment for a John Deere skid steer loader and milling attachment was accepted in the amount of $113,550. The council also passed a resolution concerning ethics and heard the first reading of an ordinance regarding the replatting of certain lots in the city.
Other business included discussion of revisions to the city’s credit card policy, with a focus on itemized receipts and administrative procedures. The Board of Public Works decided to maintain its current policy on sewer deductions for outdoor water use, requiring residents to install a second water meter for outside use. Police Chief Mike Baker reported the city will receive a $50,000 reimbursement from the Blue Shield Grant.
Mayor Adrian noted that enforcement of the city’s trailer ordinance will begin May 13. The meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
