The Cougars would return to the half with an explosive third, scoring 25 points. Keera Rothweiler and Murphy scored 9 each to lead the Cougars. Defensively, the Cougars held Macon to only 5 points to lead heading to the fourth 47-23. Keera Rothweiler would add another 12 points to her night to help the Cougars to a 16-point fourth quarter. While Macon would fight for 12 points.

After the win, coach Jaco discussed the explosive second half. “It’s District Basketball, everyone is well coached, they know what you’re doing. But I told the girls you are so talented, they play so hard, and they keep coming. And the way they responded defensively and how locked in that third quarter, execution on the offensive, really, really good.”

Coach Jaco also discussed her 100th career win as head coach, “When I played, I definitely didn’t know that I would be coming back and coaching. But Highland means a lot to me, played here as a player, and I want what’s best for these girls, for this school, for this program. The girls made it really special. I knew I was close, but ultimately, we were just trying to get a win so we could practice tomorrow. I don’t know if that was their extra motivation, but they did an incredible job.”

The Highland Lady Cougars will take on Monroe City for the fourth time this season on Friday, February 27th, with a 6:00 PM tip-off. Monroe City defeated Mark Twain 56-33.
