City of Ewing January 2026 Minutes


EWING, MO- *Key notes from the most recently approved City of Ewing meeting held on January 12, 2026.

In old business, the board discussed the planned change to sewer billing. The minutes state Shirley will work with Amy to set up accounts, with April 1 identified as the target date to begin sending combined bills. The board plans to place a notice on the next two months of sewer bills to notify residents of the new billing system.

Additional updates included plans for security system setup for park access at the office, ongoing work on the road at 15 Lakeview Drive (waiting on warmer weather), and new signs being worked on by Amy Hustead. The minutes note Green Construction has sent the settlement check related to the pickleball court issue and that matter is completed.

Christmas decorations were discussed, with the minutes stating replacing 14 decorations like the current ones would cost around $8,000. The board decided to update electrical work first and then revisit new decorations, potentially purchasing a few each year. The board also planned to check with the school to see if SHOP or FFA students would be interested in working on the brackets.

Memorial planning was discussed, including looking into large stones for a park memorial and a bench memorial in the park for Alan. The board also decided to purchase two 15-foot bleacher sections with three rows for the pickleball court. Spray field operations were reported as working well. The Rt. C sewer pump had issues and was repaired by Jeff and Dean, and the minutes note a new pump will need to be ordered to replace it.

Street issues included a collapsed tube on Rt. C and Clow Street needing replacement, and another tube at the corner of the car wash being plugged; the city plans to contact MoDOT about repairs. The minutes note the pull-behind sprayer still has not been ordered, with prices being checked, and the city plans to wait until January to order new speed bumps to replace those that were stolen.

In new business, the board decided to renew the January CD at the six-month rate and also create a new CD using money that had been moved into the checking account in December.

For the 2026 elections, the minutes state Simon did not sign up, Brandon and Jeff did, and there will not be an election because there are no contested seats; the mayor will appoint someone to fill the remaining one year on Alan’s term.

The board discussed a broken flag pole across from Senior Housing, needing additional flags, and exploring options for obtaining them.

City tax collections and delinquencies were also reviewed using a spreadsheet provided by the city clerk. The meeting then adjourned.
