The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dean Wagy at 7:00 pm.Aldermen in attendance were Cliff Wade, Simon Thrower and Brandon Beasley. Sewer clerk Shirley Robertson and City Clerk Susie Wood were in attendance.
Guests: None
Agenda: Cliff made the motion to accept the Agenda, Simon seconded. Motion carried.Minutes for August meeting were approved. Brandon made the motion to accept, Cliff seconded. Motion carried
City bills for August were approved. Cliff made the motion to accept and Brandon seconded. Motion carried.
Budget for 2025-2026 corrections were reviewed. Simon made the motion to accept the 2025-2026 corrected budget, Brandon seconded. Motion carried.
Sewer bills for Sept were approved. Simon made the motion to accept and Brandon seconded. Motion carried
Sewer budget for 2025-2025 corrections were reviewed. Cliff made the motion to accept the corrected 2025-2026 budget, Brandon seconded. Motion carried.
Old Business:
Pickleball Court- Green Construction has offered a settlement of $1,500.00. The board does not want to accept, sent to Dennis Smith.
Security System: Aaron will be here Wednesday to work on the security system.
Sparks Fence repair: – Dean has looked into this and will repair this week.
# 15 Lakeview Drive – When the fiber optic line was put in, the box was put in the ditch. The ditch needs redone to drain the water away. Dean will discuss the repairs with David Casey. It needs filled with big rock and then cold patch.
Will check with Central Stone and Diamond construction on prices of cold patch.
Looking to get 16 ton and put into the pit.
Signs – Cliff will check into getting the signs done.
Fire extinguishers, one in office and one in kitchen. Susie will check into this.
Fireproof filing cabinets – Tabled for now, Susie will check into pricing.
Speed Bumps – check with Dennis Smith to verify if they are ok. Is there a Statute stating if they have to be so far off a state highway? If damage to cars, are we liable?
Sewer – Charging a deposit on renters. Shirley will check with Dennis. Tabled until next month.
Spray field: All is working well. No problems. Will go thru and make sure all are set to run for 30 minutes.
Sewer Pumps: All is working well.
New Business:
New alderman: Alan Toliver is deceased and we will need a replacement alderman. Jeff Ray is ready to fill Alan’s vacant seat. Cliff made the motion to accept Jeff Ray as a replacement alderman for the East Ward, Simon seconded.
Motion carried.
Mayor Dean Wagy swore Jeff Ray as East Ward Alderman until the next election April 2025.
Sin Alley: received the ordinance paperwork from Dennis Smith to rename Sin Alley to Georgia St. New Ordinance # 200-25-01.
1st Reading- Cliff made the motion to accept, Brandon seconded.
2nd Reading- Simon made the motion to accept, Jeff accepted.
3rd reading-Motion to Adopt made by Brandon, Cliff seconded.
Role call to approve the Ordinance: Cliff-Yes, Simon-Yes, Brandon-Yes, Jeff-Yes. Motion carried. New Ordinance 200-25-01 Approved.
Memorials – Alan Toliver’s family would like to put a memorial for Alan in the park. Possibly a bench, or bleachers for the Pickleball court. Also, discussed putting in a big rock at the front of the park for the founding fathers, making a plaque listing their names. Susie will talk to Linda Lueckenhoff on this.
Brandon Inlow- Received a complaint that the yard needs mowed, it’s a mess. Motion to send Letter to Brandon Inlow to mow his yard made by Cliff, seconded by Simon
Christmas decorations – Need to call Ameren and get on the list to have them put up. Also, check to see if we are to supply the replacement breaker plugs or does Ameren provide?
With no further business, Simon made a motion to adjourn, Brandon seconded. Motion carried.
