January 2nd, 2024 Lewis County Commission Minutes

January 2, 2024
Commission met pursuant to order of adjournment on December 29, 2023, with Presiding Commissioner Wayne Murphy Jr., Associate Commissioners Travis Fleer, and Deanne Whiston present. When and where the following proceedings were had to wit: Commissioner Murphy called the meeting to order:
Minutes: Commissioner Whiston made a motion to approve minutes for December 18, 2023. Commissioner Fleer seconded; Commissioner Murphy agreed. Approved 3-0.
Minutes: Commissioner Whiston made a motion to approve minutes for December 26, 2023. Commissioner Fleer seconded; Commissioner Murphy agreed. Approved 3-0.
Minutes: Commissioner Whiston made a motion to approve minutes for December 29, 2023. Commissioner Fleer seconded; Commissioner Murphy agreed. Approved 3-0.
Budget: Commissioners worked on the budget.
Road & Bridge: Road and Bridge Supervisor Larry Janes and Secretary Colclough were present.
Picked up the concrete at the southside door from the foundation fix
Picked up the shrubs the foundation people had to pull out
Measured for steps and leveled the new gravel to put the steps on- the commission said they will be temporary for now- Supervisor Janes wen to Ramsey Johns and got wooden steps with a railing
Secretary Colclough received an email about old 61 from Katie Winship- Commissioner Murphy said with county can mill it up and turn back to gravel
Commissioner Murphy signed progress invoice #5 on Orange Street bridge
Mike Durst is rebuilding fence on old 61 he will take brush out and move the fence closer to the road where it is flatter- He might be on the right of way- Commissioner Fleer said he could- the other commissioners said they would like to discuss this further
Hauled spot rock on #405, 224, 228
Winter cover on grill of the 2023 Ford
Cut tree off #516 old dump road
Put new bits in the 2012 grader blade
Cleaned the shop, breakroom and bathroom
Checked roads
Mailed the invoice to LaGrange Special for $500.00 for the mowing the county did
Bryan Jennings started December 14th as part time for road and bridge
Doing bids for culverts
Other Business: Commissioner Whiston made a motion to pay for the courthouse foundation repairs to Foundation Recovery Systems for $82,874.23 out of the L.A.T.C.H Fund. Commissioner Murphy seconded; Commissioner Fleer agreed. Approved 3-0.
Adjourn: Motion to adjourn to Monday, January 8, 2024, by Commissioner Fleer, Commissioner Whiston seconded; Commissioner Murphy agreed, passed 3-0.
