Jason Dalton Takes over Wildcats Softball Program

Canton, MO — Culver-Stockton College Athletic Director Pat Atwell announced Jason Dalton as Head Softball Coach. Dalton replaces former head coach Rod Radcliffe, who retired in May after five seasons with the Wildcats, compiling a 97-151 overall record and coaching 13 All-Heart Team Players and two conference playoff appearances.

Dalton most recently served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Culver-Stockton baseball program for the last three years.

“We are excited to announce the promotion of Jase Dalton as our new softball coach,” said Atwell. “Jase has shown maturity and professionalism working as an assistant with the baseball program the last three seasons. He is looking forward to leading the Wildcat softball program. He will work tirelessly to provide the best collegiate softball experience possible for the young ladies on our team.”

“For my family and me, it’s a tremendous opportunity to grow in this area. I couldn’t be more excited to help Culver-Stockton College,” said Coach Dalton.

Dalton came to Culver-Stockton in 2024 after pitching for the Chicago Dogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball. He attended the University of South Alabama, where he played three seasons, winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and advancing to the Gainesville (Fla.) Regional in 2021.

Coach Dalton discussed his decision to take on the head coaching role.

“After discussing the opportunity with several of my peers, I felt I was ready to take the leap in leading my own program. I’m confident my coaching style can lead to success.”

Atwell said many male softball coaches made the switch from baseball to softball at some point in their careers, and Dalton has decided that will be his journey as well. He comes from a family that has coached and played softball, so he is familiar with the game but will learn its nuances as he goes.

Coach Dalton discussed what he looks forward to in becoming the head coach of the softball program.

“I look forward to learning and adapting as a head coach while seeing student-athletes grow through their careers and being the stepping stone to get them where they want to be in the future,” Dalton said.

The Wildcats are expected to return seven starters from a team that finished 26-24 overall last season, the first winning campaign since 2019. The 26 victories were the most since they won 32 games in 2019.
