La Grange City Council Meeting Minutes March 9th and March 23rd, 2026


LA GRANGE, MO- *Key notes from the most recently approved City of LaGrange City Council meeting held on March 9th & 23rd, 2026.

March 9, 2026,

The LaGrange City Council met at 5:30 p.m. with Mayor Bob Corbin presiding and all six councilmembers present: Robyn Cottrell, James Dade, Carol Henze, Gail Kindhart, Barry Pfister, and Don Zahn. City Administrator John Roach, City Clerk Kim Schneider, City Attorney Jeff Curl, Fire Chief Henry J. Gunsauls, Public Works Foreman Les Eaton, Police Chief Aaron Johnson, and Captain Jason Powell were also present, along with John Fields. There were no presentations.

During public comments, John Fields said he would like to purchase additional city property behind his house (approximately one acre). City Attorney Jeff Curl advised him to submit something to the City Council for consideration at the March 23, 2026 meeting during a real estate closed session.

The council approved the consent agenda, which included the March 9 agenda, the February 23, 2026 minutes, and bills. Mark Bross was not present for the city engineer report and there were no questions. The mayor and city clerk reported no items.

Under the City Administrator’s report, the council received proposed 2026–2027 budget presentations for the Fire Department, Water Department, Public Works/Streets, and the Municipal Garage. No old business or new business was listed.

The council then voted to go into closed session under state statute 610.021(3) for personnel, with the roll call vote recorded as all six councilmembers voting “yes.” The meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m., with the vote recorded as 5 yes and 1 absent.

March 23, 2026,

The LaGrange City Council met at 5:30 p.m. with Mayor Bob Corbin presiding. Councilmembers Robyn Cottrell, James Dade, Carol Henze, Gail Kindhart, and Don Zahn were present, with Councilmember Barry Pfister absent. City Administrator John Roach, Deputy City Clerk Lezlie Meyer, Police Chief Aaron Johnson, and Captain Jason Powell were present. City Attorney Jeff Curl was absent. Also present were Fred Wiewel and Grant Kennedy.

There were no public comments. In presentations, Fred and Donna Wiewel submitted an application to close the alley between Lots 4–5 and Lots 6–7 in Marlow’s Addition, Block 13. City Administrator John Roach set a streets committee meeting for Monday, March 30, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.

The council approved the consent agenda, including approval of the March 23 agenda, the March 9, 2026 minutes, and bills. The city engineer report noted Mark Bross was not present and there were no questions.

Lewis County Mo Heating and Air FHC

In the mayor’s report, Mayor Corbin stated he and John Roach went to the casino to discuss the Fourth of July, and that the casino will be donating as they have in the past. The city clerk’s report listed no items.

Under the city administrator’s report, John Roach reviewed the general budget, police budget, Mark Twain Casino budget, and sewer budget. The minutes note that at the next meeting, council will have a complete budget for ordinance posting.

As an informational item, Mayor Corbin gave an update on the illegal slot machine crack down. The council then voted to go into closed session under state statute 610.021(2) for real estate. The meeting adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
