Annual Londyn’s Love Game Raises Support and Spirit

Lewistown, MO – Game two of the Highland and Canton softball series concluded at the annual Londyn’s Love for Lewis County game. The Highland Cougars came out on top 12-2, but not without a fight from the Canton Tigers.

Londyn’s Limelight

Before the game, both teams came together in a moment of unity. They were joined by the family of Londyn Logsdon, as well as Jessica Bringer and her family. The Bringer family was selected as this year’s Londyn’s Limelight. All proceeds raised from the game will be donated to the Bringer family as Jessica continues her battle with cancer.

In 2020, Jessica Bringer found a lump on her left breast. After three years of monitoring, it was determined to be benign and removed in 2023. In 2025, Jessica found another lump on her right breast, which also appeared to be benign. However, on June 30, Jessica received a phone call she was not ready for. The pathology report showed cancer—triple negative breast cancer, a very aggressive form. Jessica is currently undergoing 12 weeks of chemotherapy, which will be followed by four weeks of additional treatment.

After the game, Beth Logsdon, the mother of Londyn Logsdon, had only one thing to say: “Londyn works through all of us. Putting this game on every year is all Londyn.” The game alternates each year, with next year’s game scheduled to be held in Canton.

The Game

Canton sent senior Brenna Brewer to the circle, while the Cougars turned to senior Abby Lay. The Tigers struck first in the third inning when Izzy Ruffcorn hit a leadoff double, followed by a single from Carter Arnold. Canton attempted a sacrifice squeeze, and although Arnold was caught stealing second, Ruffcorn came across to score on the play.

The Tigers added to their lead in the fourth. An error and a walk put Brewer and Addelyn Baker on the bases. A double steal set them in scoring position, and an error on the throwdown allowed courtesy runner McKeelee Shepherd to score, giving Canton a 2-0 lead.

Highland answered in the bottom half. An Addy Abell single, followed by an advance on an error, allowed her to steal third. An Abby Lay groundout brought Abell home. Hannah Ritterbusch then kept the inning alive with a two-out single, and Allie Lundberg followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.

Post Game

Coach Kevin Jarvis commended his girls on their performance:
“We had a great game plan and the girls executed perfectly. We wanted to put runners on base and put pressure on their defense, make them make a few mistakes, and I think we did that early on. We did a really good job getting on base throughout the game.”

He then turned his attention to the defensive side:
“We did a super job early on. Brenna Brewer pitched her butt off, she did a great job, executed the game plan, and kept them off balance. I maybe should’ve got her out late in the game, but she wanted to finish. This is her senior year and her last Londyn’s Love game, so I let her.”

Senior Addy Abell also spoke about playing in her final Londyn’s Love game:
“It feels really good to have a lot of people come out to this — Highland and Canton community coming out, a huge crowd just supporting the cause. Anything we can do to support the community means a whole bunch to us.”
