Lady Tigers Storm their way to Victory on Senior Night
Canton, MO — The Canton Lady Tigers took on the Mediapolis Bullets on the pitch, beating the Bullets 2-0 after early second-half goals would get the Tigers on the board. Helping to also celebrate senior night in their last home game.
A corner kick would cause a scramble in front of the net, giving the Tigers the lead with the first goal of the game, as the Bullets would score into their own net. About 10 minutes later, Junior Chayse Uhlmeyer, with an assist from MaryKate McReynolds, would bury the ball to secure the Lady Tigers’ lead 2-0.
“Coming out ready to play, keeping the pressure up on their half of the field, getting that corner early was huge, and getting that own goal.” Said coach Sarah Mueller on the adjustments made from the first half, “You put the ball in the box, good things can happen.”
The Tigers would hold the Bullets to only a few shots during the game as Senior Netminder Madilyn Nelson would make seven saves on the night. As they walk out with a victory.
After the game, the team celebrated the Seniors, Student Manager Aiden Gaither, MaryKate McReynolds, Madilyn Nelson, Maggie Nelson, Emma Thrower, and Kadence Taylor.
As Coach Mueller discusses the win and the seniors’ contributions,
“Our five seniors have done a lot for this program, and going out with a win for them, that’s what you want. All five of them contributed in that win, and that’s what you want.”
The Lady Tigers improve to 2-7-1 on the season and head on the road to finish the regular season. Heading to Kirksville on May 7th with a 5:00 PM start.
